Play of The Golf Game

Every round of golf is based on playing a number of holes in a given order. A 'round' typically consists of 18 holes that are played in the order determined by the course layout. On a nine-hole course, a standard round consists of two consecutive nine-hole rounds.
Playing a hole on a golf course is initiated by putting a ball into play by striking it with a club on the teeing ground (also called the tee box, or simply the tee). When this initial stroke (or 'shot') is required to be long due to the length of the hole, it is usual (but not required) for a golfer to suspend (or 'tee-up') the ball on a tee prior to striking it. A tee in this last sense is a small peg which can be used to elevate the ball slightly above the ground up to a few centimetres high. This elevation is at the discretion of the golfer. Tees are commonly made of wood but may be constructed of any material; the ball may even be teed on a mound of grass or dirt (at one time a small pile of sand placed by the golfer was routinely used and sand was provided at teeing grounds for golfers' use).
When the initial shot on a hole is a long-distance shot intended to move the ball a great distance down the fairway, this shot is commonly called a 'drive'. Shorter holes generally are initiated with shorter clubs called irons. Once the ball comes to rest, the golfer strikes it again as many times as necessary using shots that are variously known as a 'lay-up', an 'approach', a 'pitch', or a 'chip', until the ball reaches the green, where he or she then 'putts' the ball into the hole (commonly called "sinking the putt"). The goal of getting the ball into the hole ("holing" the ball) in as few strokes as possible may be impeded by obstacles such as areas of long grass called 'rough' (usually found alongside fairways) which both slows any ball that contacts it and makes it harder to advance a ball that has stopped on it, bunkers (or sand traps), and water hazards. In most forms of gameplay, each player plays his or her ball until it is holed.
Players can walk to their next shot or drive in golf carts over the course. The game can be played either individually or in groups and sometimes accompanied by caddies, who carry and manage the players' equipment and who are allowed by the rules to give advice on the play of the course. A caddy's advice can only be given to the player or players for whom the caddy is working, and not to competing players.

Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews という 現在の名称に変更され、現在に至っている。R&A と省略して呼ばれるが、近年は アメリカの USGA と共に 世界基準となる ゴルフルールを作成するなど 名実ともに ゴルフの総本山となった。

Choose the Right Golf Equipment

Modern Golf Clubs: Ask any golfer about the most satisfying stroke he ever played and he will most likely tell you about a particularly long drive he once powered down the fairway. In the golf equipment industry, the dominance of woods as the top-sellers is unchallenged. Even though woods are used less than all the other clubs in the bag, golfers are prepared to spend enormous amounts of money on them in the search for a few extra yards. The term "woods" is still used, despite the fact that the number of clubs actually made of wood is dropping steadily. Steel alloys and titanium are the preferred materials today. "Metal woods" propel the ball further and are also more forgiving than wooden woods. Even in the case of miss-hits or off-centre connections, the ball still travels some distance and doesn't lose as much accuracy.
Putter Manufacture: As with most other clubs, stainless and carbon steel has been the premier material used in construction of putters. However, with feel and response being of utmost importance on the greens, manufacturers have successfully experimented with a whole range of different materials and metal alloys. Experimentation with the putter face has led to two major innovations: face milling and face inserts. Manufacturers believe that a putter with a milled face performs better as the milling process ensures that the putter's face has a consistent, flat surface. Many believe that putters have zero degrees of loft, but this is simply not true-putter loft generally fluctuates around the four-degree mark.
Club Head Covers: One of the best ways to keep your clubs-and your woods in particular - in good condition is to invest in head covers. A set of 14 clubs jostling around in your bag can cause a lot of surface marking. Although iron head covers are available, modern irons can generally withstand being jostled in a bag, but it is woods that really need protection around the head and down onto the shaft. Graphite - shafted clubs are particularly susceptible to scratching.
The Golf Bag: In a standard golf bag you will find two or three smallish pockets in which you can place your glove, tees, balls and valuables. You will also find a bigger pocket - usually on the side of the bag - storage of wet - whether garments or sweaters. Golf bags come in different shapes and sizes and there are several factors to consider before investing in one. If you are going to carry it yourself, make sure you buy a light 'carry bag', but if you're going to use a trolley you can consider heavier bags. The final factor to take into account is appearance. A neat, well - made and fashionable bag not only looks good, but some people believe it actually boosts confidence. Debatable though the theory is, be sure to get full value for your money by giving some thought to the colour you would prefer and the overall appearance of the bag.
The Golf Glove: A golf glove ensures a comfortable and secure grip on the club throughout the swing. Right - handed wear a glove on the left hand (and left handed on their right hand) because it is their dominant hand. A golf glove should fit like a second skin; it is better to buy one that is a little to tight than one that is too loose. A smaller glove will stretch slightly to fit snugly, while a bigger glove will move around on you hand and prevent you from getting a proper grip. An overlapping Velcro flap round the wrist fastens the glove firmly.
Golfing Apparel: A golfer's clothing should not only be neat and tidy and in keeping with the rules of the club, it should also be practical and comfortable. Your clothes should allow free movement of those parts of your body that are essential to the basic shots. Bear in mind that you will be out on the course for several hours, during which there could be changes in the weather, so be prepared.

Golf game in Lisbon

When in golf lingo you mention "Portugal" everyone almost immediately assumes that the word "Algarve" is the next in line, but when speaking about golf in the country is not all about the Algarve, as a curiosity the oldest golf course in Portugal (the Oporto Golf Club) founded in 1890 is not in the Algarve. Over the past decade Lisbon has emerged as a Golf destination and became an excellent choice if anyone is planning a change of scenario on their next golf holidays avoiding the busy fairways of the Algarve or even Costa Del Sol in Spain, Lisbon may as well be the next place to stay. The region offers at least ten top class golf courses and the choice of evening entertainment rivals anywhere in Europe.
An ancient city full of history and cultural traditions Lisbon is known by its magnificent palaces, monuments, churches and museums, bordered by one of Europe's widest rivers, the Tejo (Tagus); the city spreads across the slopes of seven hills and down to the ocean. With a mildest climate the region is blessed with a cool Atlantic breeze and long hours of sunshine the region has developed into one of the most exciting golf destinations in latest years, Lisbon has become a jewel between golf holiday makers. The golf is great, the beaches are blissful and the scenery is breathtaking, the gastronomy superb; that is why that probably Lisbon is the perfect place where non-golfers can peacefully share in a golf vacation and enjoy himself as much as golfers or maybe even more.
Divided into three distinct regions; The Estoril Coast, the Costa Azul and Estremadura together they host top quality golf courses all within an hour drive of the center of Lisbon, you will be spoilt for choice! Those seeking some Championship golf should experience Oitavos Dunes, a current venue on the European Tour, located at a short distance Quinta da Marinha hosted Challenge Tour events; neighboring them is Golfe do Estoril another excellent course. Heading west Belas Club Campo and Praia del Rey will make your day, if deciding to go south the choice is wider the Aroeira Golf Resort, Quinta de Peru, Troia Golf and the Ribagolfe Resort are some of the courses that make Lisbon an excellent destination for your golf holiday.
Awarded as the "Best European Golf Destination 2007" by the IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) the region surpassed nominees in Scotland, Ireland and Spain; finally emerging from the shadow of country's most known golf destination, the Algarve, awarded on the previous year.
Similarly to other golfing destinations you can reserve a Golf package, for a set price and a wide choice of combinations (2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 rounds) is available, this option offers an unbeatable combination of top courses in the Lisbon area and generally the more you play the more you save.

Golf Tips Online

It's always a blessing to get free golf tips, whether you are a beginner or a pro. But the only tips you can usually get are from a friend. So you may--in affect--turn into that friend, rather than improving your game overall. This is a frightening thought for any golfer.
What if you could learn something new and pass it on to other golfers who need to know it? Would you do it? May golfers do and use the Internet to help them with the dissemination and retrieval of this information.
When searching for golf tips on the Internet, it is easy to find little bits of information that can improve your game drastically. The tips you will find can solve any problem you have. You may even find out new information for something you previously thought you needed no advice on.
In fact, there is so much information that it might be easy for beginners to get confused. This is why it is important to stick to basic tips--"how to" tips and "101" tips. Stay away from the advanced tips until you are an advanced golfer; at which point, you should delve deeper to find better, more accurate tips and methods.
There is no need to rush; you can even print off some of the information and take it with you next time you are on the course. You can use diagrams and procedural lists to guide you on the course as you run into problems.
The categories golf websites include are truly amazing; they range from the mental part of the game, such as keeping a clear mind when on the tee; to stroke savers, such as going up a club; to the up and over shots. The databases will provide you with every outcome you may encounter when on the course. In addition, it will give you an in-depth look at how to overcome each of these challenges.

Golf courses

In present times, there are numerous golf courses and a variety of golf driving range available for the golfers to practice and become proficient in the game of golf. Clubhouse golf is the most important part of a golf club. It is the place where golfers stop as soon as they reach the club. Golf is a ball game. The main target of the players is to hit the ball into the hole of golf course. There are several golf holes available in a golf course. The discussion about the origin of this game can leave us confused as according to some historians, it is a Roman originated game and some consider it to have Chinese origin. Golf is one of the best recreational activities one can opt for. Not only just men, even women have a lot of craze for playing golf. Anyways, we are going to discuss all this here. In this article, I am going to discuss about the golf courses offered by Halfpenny Green golf driving range, UK. Our family founded and run clubhouse golf facility is situated in the beautiful South Staffordshire countryside with breath-taking views providing an unforgettable golfing experience.
In my opinion, before starting about golf courses offered by Halfpenny Green golf driving range, we need to be sure that we are prepared for playing. And for that, we must follow certain tips. These preparatory tips help in making your body ready for a stretch free gaming. Before leaving the clubhouse golf, we need to get warmed up. The first thing to remember and do with regard to preparation for comfortable playing is exercising. Like all other sports, our body muscles get pulled in this game also. This is because when we hit the ball, there is a slight jerk in whole body. If you don't exercise regularly, you may have to bear body pains and stretched muscles for days. Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is not to swing so hard that your body gets jolted. The most important thing or so to say tip that can help you here is to make an effort so that the all your force is concentrated on the point which hits the ball. This can help you prevent your body from the jolt and thus hit the ball far off.
Now I am going to discuss about Halfpenny Green golf driving range. Words like clubhouse golf, golf driving range, teeing point and golf courses need to be kept in consideration when we are deciding our gaming strategy. Make sure that you are well acquainted with the area where you are going to play. The clubhouse golf is the main building where golfers stop before and after playing the game. At Halfpenny Green we offer a big hall clubhouse for you with a bar inside so as to facilitate you enjoyable time. Our golf driving range is one of the best ranges of the area. We offer you an automated teeing system in our driving range. Now you don't need to bend again and again for placing a new ball as this system enables players to load the balls into a specially designed mat and the balls automatically appear from the ground after every shot. We offer you all types of comfort facilities so that you can enjoy great day out with family.

Golf Irons

Irons are one of the most essential bits of kit for any golfer. Used mainly for approaches to the green, they can also be used for shots off the tee and on the fairway. This guide has been designed to help you to choose the clubs which best suit your game.

Most sets of irons comprise 8 clubs, namely a 3 iron, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and a pitching wedge. These are each designed to hit the ball by a different distance, with exactly the same length of swing. The difference in distance between clubs is usually around 10-15 yards. The 3 iron, which has the least amount of loft will achieve the furthest distance. At the other end of the scale, the pitching wedge will result in the shortest shots.

What to look for when choosing a set of irons:

Type of Head

There are 2 types of iron head. For beginners and intermediates, cavity back irons are recommended as they allow gofers to hit straighter shots and allow for greater forgiveness on off-centre hits.

For advanced players, the Blade variety of irons is usually preferred as they offer more control and feel. They also allow better players to shape their shots, making it possible to attempt more difficult shots.

Forged vs. Casted

Irons are manufactured using two different processes, forging and casting. Forged head irons are produced from softer metal than casted heads and are generally considered to offer greater feel and more consistent levels of performance. The cheaper, casted clubs are the recommended choice for those starting out.

Type of shaft

Irons are made of either steel or graphite, with the latter being perceived as higher quality, and therefore being more expensive. Modern manufacturing techniques, however, mean that the distinction between the 2 is now not as clearly defined, with many steel shafted irons offering more than adequate levels of performance.

Clubs with graphite shafts are recommended for golfers with slower swing speed, as they are lighter. Graphite as a material is more adept at absorbing impact vibration, and therefore makes for a more comfortable game.

Type of Grip

The size of the club's grip can have a direct affect on your swing, so you should account for this when choosing a club. Although most clubs come with a standard grip, this can easily be adjusted at your local golf shop. Those with small hands should adjust their club for a thinner grip than those with bigger hands.

Golf Clubs

Golf clubs are used in the sport of golf to hit a golf ball. Originally falling into three broad categories namely.
Woods:
Originally with wooden heads and used to propel the ball for long distances from a tee or fairway. They have varying degrees of loft (angle of club face relative to ground).
Now used with titanium or composite heads.
Irons:
Originally with metal heads also with varying degrees of loft.
Putter:
Used to propel the ball short distances along the ground with optimum accuracy, usually on the putting green.
Various clubs are designed with the face of the club head, also called the "clubface", having differing loft (the angle between a vertical plane and the clubface when the club is at rest).
It is loft that makes a golf ball leave the ground on an ascending trajectory, not an upward direction of swing: with the exception of the tee shot, the club actually hits the ball in a horizontal or slightly downward motion.
The impact of the clubface compresses the ball. Grooves on the clubface impart a counterclockwise (from a parallel view of the swing) spin, known as backspin, on the ball, that when combined with the rebounding effect of the ball, give it lift.
Typically, the greater the loft, the higher and shorter the resulting ball trajectory. With a few exceptions, golf clubs are labeled by a number; lower numbers denote progressively longer shaft lengths and lower clubface lofts.
While the variation of clubs can differ greatly between golfers, a set can have no greater than 14 clubs and generally consists of three woods, two wedges, a putter, and eight irons (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 irons, plus a pitching wedge). Some players opt to avoid some of the more difficult-to-hit longer irons in favor of higher-lofted "fairway" woods and extra "utility" wedges. In part, this reflects a pattern of design of clubs in which club manufacturers have reduced the lofts of the irons so that they can be used from longer distances. In effect, today's 3-iron has a loft that is equivalent to a 2-iron of years ago.
